Sleep

I seek your bosom soft.
You embrace me, hold my hand;
Ameliorated, my spirit soars aloft!
How like an angel you transport us
To a land of delectable dreams
Where oblivion descends, peace reigns
And nectar flows like streams!

Holy Day

I’ll pray to call on the deity of fire
As my loved brethren fete this holy day,
One that lets men forgo each grim desire
To joy with colours in a blissful way.

The Spirit Learns

A good life is a contented life;
It isn’t chasing rainbows of flighty fleeting moments of happiness, fading ever-faster into flimsy emptiness.
It isn’t your colour, race, religion or creed,
Your gender, culture, or whether you are rich or poor.

The Wait

However strong the love bond may brew,
The love for the body does wither away
As carnal amour cannot forever stay!
The affinity for beauty that resides in the mind,
The attraction to knowledge is rare to find!

I Saw God Today

I saw god today,
He smiled at me through the beaming eyes of a giggling child.
I felt god today,
He was in the warm glow of the sun shining through the fluffed, feathered clouds.

Looking Out of My Window

Looking out of my window, I see birds fluttering and flying in the breeze,
Squeaking and chirping o’er canopies to search seclusion for nesting in peace.
With the yawning cerulean, they flap the first stroke of their wings,
And into the abysmal blue; in merriment, they fly amidst the cloudy rings.

Old Widow Is Back at Work

Her eyes tell tales
Even as her mouth mouths words none get.
Something’s awry;
The day she absented herself,
Something transpired,
For her smile is now gone, missing;
Remains now just
A flesh without a soul, conscience.

You Are My Poetry

I will treasure everything of you like the gems of wisdom a scholar keeps in the coffer of his mind. When I look at your smile, in my heart, poems take birth. As a chivalrous lover, I want to proffer them to you. For you are my poetry.

Back to the Pavilion

Her legs are now treading artfully,
Stopping once she reaches her destination;
She’s content, for schools are now reopened,
Gladdened is she at the prospect of
Meeting new students,
Friending youngsters,
And… making money.
She has never been to school though.

Point Five

My brother was called point five since his walk
Was like that of a lass and likened much
To dames that were abiding far; his speech
Was quite high-pitched, possessing girlish touch.
The folks he was acquainted with would breach
Rules made, not one or two or three but each.

Esoterical Infusions

I am ego, a creation of gifted evolution
Born to create mayhem
Playing devil’s advocate upon the manifested plane, of illusionary realities
Only to be suppressed, and overcome, through devotional practices

When I Wakened This Morn

When I was awakened this morn
From a kip that lasted too long,
Humming were birds one adorb song,
One that I’d oft heard in Cape Horn.

I’m Proud of My Mother

You heard it right!
My classmates used to bully me;
By flaunting their mothers’ profession, they’d thought themselves supreme.
I wanted to teach them a lesson;
By poking me, how could they have fun?

Nature’s Love

In the realm of nature love rules all
Unstained affection stands upright and tall!
The love you feel when the wind caresses soft
In autumn evenings, the spirit soars aloft;
When the starlit night hugs you tight
You melt in the grip of the silvery sight.

A Most Unusual Name

Lets-call-her-Lee had long dreamed
of escaping;
of changing her name
and taking a Greyhound
to someplace deemed safe

The Highway to Heaven

I promised that I would throw a bag at each resting stop
So he allowed me inside and I boarded the bus with a hop
At the first stop, I threw my bag carrying ‘Comparisons ‘
And the bus started again, leaving that station
On the next stop, I chose to throw the bag containing ‘Expectations’

Because the Welkin Charmed Me Much

When I was young, I’d longed to float and fly
Because the welkin charmed, allured me much;
I’d hankered after gladness and pure bliss,
The airy, blue expanse I’d hoped to touch.
