My Favorite Teacher

Her voice was poised,
and when she addressed us
for the first time
a wave of silence descended
as if it were preordained
that a shrilled silence would dawn
when she worded the thoughts
she had in her mind,
for silence was a word
not in the dictionary
the students of St Mary’s used.

Winds and Ways

Oh, the birds greet mirth and mirth births love
When winds wind their ways through woods of this land;
And the days turn sound with the nights that shove
The light that brightens the homes that here stand.

When My Love Calls

When the night is blooming
In the realm of its own artistry,
A spec of moonlight
Dares to caress your charming face;
Almost instantly,
I stoop to plant a kiss
On your sleepy lips.
It’s that moment when my love callsโ€ฆ
A love that refuses to outgrow!

โ€˜If You Want To Do Something Well, You Have To Do It Regularly’

When asked if becoming an author was a conscious decision she made, Barbara, who is also a member of Screen Actors Guild – American Federation of Television and Radio Artists, says she was working as an actor, which gave her a lot of down time, and she needed an outlet to keep from worrying herself to death between jobs. โ€˜I have always loved reading, and I thought I would see if I could write a book. I mean, how hard could it be? It looks so easy! Well, it was not easy, but it kept me occupied. And I learned I prefer writing to acting, so I switched emphasis, which is good because as a woman of a certain age, my acting career was stalling out.โ€™

The Night of Destruction

Lightnings of fury and pain
Were flung to burn a painful hole
Through its joyful core.
They kept pricking it,
Trying their best to cause- destruction;
But it wasn’t built to shatter.

The Knight Set Right

The knight that night with might set right
Each plight of men with tempers frayed;
The men then penned their thoughts then light
And journeyed to far lands as aides.

Altered Mien

When Morning and Night met again that day
To greet the ocean of marred, frozen milk,
I bade adieu to Ball of Fire to bilk
The shadows that had wrecked my life, my stay.

Nighttide

The night stepped out
Like a prima ballerina
From the monumental shadows
That reached the very heavens
Concealed awhile
Behind the great mountains of granite grey
That separated the tranquil realm
From the world outside

Warfare

There is some harmony in chaos,
Mayhem in the way the enemies march to their doom,
The sense of morbid familiarity when the drums are struck,
The beats uniting all the warriors, be it friends or foe.

Because the Welkin Charmed Me Much

When I was young, I’d longed to float and fly
Because the welkin charmed, allured me much;
I’d hankered after gladness and pure bliss,
The airy, blue expanse I’d hoped to touch.

Ethereal Beauty

Magical was this Sunset
By the Sea
As the art unfolded
Of the masterpiece
Sunset by the Sea at Twilight Time

As many times
That as l have witnessed
Sunsets and Sunrises
Living by the Sea;
Never
Have l seen such
Ethereal Beauty

Inner Child

It’s okay to be broken
And let it all out
All the words you’ve left unspoken
That you’re unable to shout
Cry little girl
You’re not out of place
Go right ahead child
Have the tears roll down your face

‘Loving’ Friend

There’s a world abiding in each where blooms love;
Nothing great can be gained if yon world dies!
I say rear the world now; never ask when.
Would that you could grasp what in yon world lies!

Rebirth

I always looked round in your universe
I noticed that others had lives that were worse
So why years of drinking to blot out the pain
I have lame excuses but I just canโ€™t explain

The Force That Guides the Worlds Galore

I suggest you now grasp that heart’s core
Is illumed by none but God; thought ain’t vain.
Same is force that guides the worlds galore,
One birthed by a chaste woman. Prized lore!

When I First Looked Into Your Eyes

Lambasted love couldn’t even minds
That shall float now, forever,
Be born again to be dead, gone.
That is life’s nature; it quite binds,
Creating love in ways clever
In order that worlds may move on.
