When I Wakened This Morn

When I was awakened this morn
From a kip that lasted too long,
Humming were birds one adorb song,
One that I’d oft heard in Cape Horn.

Also, thoughts and feelings that rose
When I was awakened this morn
With a soul quite fresh, again born
Roused emotions I’d once held close.

Oh, the Sun’s hue, orange when eyed,
Eased the pain that once pricked like thorn
When I was awakened this morn
In this world to which I’m now tied.

My soul beamed, for ’twas no more torn,
And my heart was greatly lightened;
World around was subtly brightened
When I was awakened this morn.
